Books and Reading

What I’ve Been Reading Lately

In the past month, the weather in Iowa has gotten quite cold as low as the teens. We have had many a flurry, which I feel like is just magic. I have read a few books in the past month, but only one of them did I love enough to want to share.

Based on the subtitle, I figured I would like this book. I was not disappointed. I found this book to be a validation and culmination of things that I have been gathering from a variety of sources. This book discusses how to live your life in a way that is more directed. I am all for a life of intentionality and I appreciate the way this book encourages us to let go of being who others want us to be and rather to focus on who we really want to be and are. I also felt like this book gave a good understanding of how when we do not live a life of intention we are allowing other people to dictate our priorities and how we live our lives. This book is not too long and definitely worth a read. Book Rating: 4/5

Any suggestions, I have not had many books that I have been reading lately that have been great and I would love some great reads during the cold weather. What are you reading lately?

  1. I loved Essentialism as well. Definitely one I will be rereading!

My favorite read this month was Two-Part Invention by Madeleine L’Engle. It’s a memoir of her forty year marriage. I learned so many new and interesting things about one of my favorite authors. It is a sad book though as much of it centers around her husband’s battle with cancer. Definitely not a feel good read, but I found it so thought-provoking.

I read 5 other books this month and enjoyed all of them actually.

I’d love for you to stop by and check them out!
